SKINPEN MICRONEEDLING — RESURFACING
Overview

What skinpen microneedling does, in plain language.

Microneedling uses a motorized pen fitted with a sterile, single-use cartridge of very fine needles to create thousands of controlled micro-channels in the skin. The skin responds as it does to any small injury: it repairs, and in doing so remodels collagen and elastin in the treated area.

SkinPen® by Crown Aesthetics was the first microneedling device to receive FDA clearance. As a collagen-induction treatment it is one of the most versatile tools in the practice — we use it for fine lines, texture and tone, early laxity, and acne scarring, on the face, neck, or jawline, across every skin tone.

It sits between a peel and a fractional laser: deeper remodeling than a peel, less downtime than Fraxel, and gentle enough for every skin tone. A consultation decides whether SkinPen, a laser, or a combination is the better fit for you.

A consultation determines whether this treatment is right for you — every plan begins with a conversation and a physician assessment.

What it treats
  • —Fine lines, early laxity, and crepey texture — face, neck, or jaw
  • —Acne scars and post-acne marks, on every skin tone
  • —Rough or dull texture, enlarged-looking pores, uneven tone
  • —Preventive collagen work, for skin that's only just starting to change
Includes
  • — Face, neck, or both — planned with you at consult
  • — Sterile single-use cartridge, every visit
  • — Series of 3, about 30 days apart
  • — 1–3 days of redness
The visit

In the chair.

Duration
About an hour, including 30–45 minutes of topical numbing.
Comfort
Topical numbing beforehand; most patients feel a light vibration and mild scratchiness.
What it feels like
Skin is cleansed and numbed, then the pen is passed over the treatment area in a set pattern, at a depth chosen for your skin and the area. You leave pink, with written aftercare.
Results & downtime

Honest timelines.

When results appear
Gradual — improvement builds in the weeks after each session as collagen remodels.
How long they last
Results build over the months following a series; maintenance is planned at your follow-up.
Downtime
1–3 days of redness, tightness, or dryness, similar to a mild sunburn.
Sessions
A series of three, spaced about 30 days apart, is standard; deeper scarring may need more.
Aftercare

Simple steps that protect the result.

  • —Gentle cleanser and a bland moisturizer only for the first 48 hours.
  • —No makeup for 24 hours.
  • —Broad-spectrum SPF daily, and avoid direct sun for the first week.
  • —No retinoids, acids, or exfoliants until we clear you — usually 3–5 days.
  • —Skip workouts, saunas, and swimming for 24–48 hours.
