Photorejuvenation
IPL for sun damage, brown spots, and diffuse redness.

What photorejuvenation does, in plain language.
Photorejuvenation uses intense pulsed light (IPL) to treat the two most visible legacies of sun exposure at once: brown spots and background redness. The light is absorbed selectively by pigment and by blood vessels, leaving surrounding skin alone.
It is one of the most efficient treatments for aging skin on the face, chest, and hands, with minimal downtime and reliable results over a short series.
IPL is not suited to every skin tone. We assess pigmentation carefully — a wrong-tool-for-the-job IPL can leave pigment behind, which is why the pre-treatment conversation matters.
A consultation determines whether this treatment is right for you — every plan begins with a conversation and a physician assessment.

In the chair.
- Duration
- 20–30 minutes.
- Comfort
- Cool gel and contact cooling; no numbing needed for most patients.
- What it feels like
- Protective eyewear on; short pulses of light pass over the treatment zone. A warm snap with each pulse; brown spots darken briefly before flaking off.
Honest timelines.
- When results appear
- Brown spots darken within 24 hours, then flake off over 7–10 days.
- How long they last
- Long-lasting; new sun exposure creates new pigment over time.
- Downtime
- Minimal — mild pink flush for a few hours; darker spots visibly slough for a week.
- Sessions
- 3–5 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart is standard.
Simple steps that protect the result.
- —Daily broad-spectrum SPF; strict sun avoidance for two weeks.
- —Do not pick at darkened spots — they shed on their own.
- —Skip retinoids and acids for 5 days.
- —Cool compresses if there's any warmth or swelling.
